Tennis and Covid-19 Update: 11 th May 2020
Dear Club Members,
The Government is cautiously relaxing some of the ‘lockdown’ measures imposed to combat Covid-19 transmission. The full guidance from the LTA relating to recreational tennis play is expected imminently, hopefully tomorrow Tuesday 12 th May, with a view to opening some tennis activities from Wednesday 13 th May.
The current suggestion is to allow singles tennis between any two players, with doubles play reserved only for members from the same household. However, we will await the full guidance from the LTA before we permit recreational tennis to take place at our club and the club will therefore remain closed. Please look out for a further communication tomorrow, which will include details of any ‘rules’ concerning playing arrangements.
In the meantime, we are investigating the possibility of instituting a booking system, which will make it easier for members to know when the courts are available for singles or household-doubles play.
It is not clear yet when standard doubles play between non-household members will be permitted, and of course we will monitor the LTA guidance closely for any changes.
We thank you for your patience and we look forward to opening the courts very soon.
Best wishes,
Mike Bird
Chairman, Chalfont St Peter Tennis Club
